Camp

so the PTP phase is finally over. i like my old platoon a lot, the people there regardless of their shady backgrounds, know the meaning of cooperation during training. of course there will be 1 or 2 idiots who are just downright selfish, but anyway, i`ll miss these bunch of people. this week, the new batch arrived in on tuesday so the old platoon 7 and 8 had to combine with my platoon to become the new platoon 9. platoon 8 only creates problems and platoon 7 only knows hw to shout. so when you combine both together, it becomes a marked platoon thus we do double of what we used to do during training. 300 over pushups a day, power leg training and jumping jacks 100 counts of 8.

maybe im lucky enough to get posted out, so no more seeing platoon 8 and 7 but this is where all hell breaks loose. they threw all the A lvls and diploma holders to the specialist unit aka Emergency Response Specialists(ERS). the average fireman trains for 3 months to get a fire badge but we have to train for 6 months which is inclusive of the firefighter training for the first 3 months. so on paper, i POP on the 29th june when everybody else passes out 7 weeks from now. i didnt know hw to respond when i got the posting, still having mixed feelings about it. i might as well join commandos in SAF because the training is just as tough. i thought civil defence would be a haven from the grueling training of the army, but now everything is dashed. anyway, hope i can endure for another 6 months, then i can just work for 1 day and get 2 days off. effectively i work 10 days a month by then. it will be something worth looking forward to.

tell you a little thing about civil defence. next time you see a fireman, never use the term fireman because they don't like it. the proper term should be Fire-Fighter. i don't really know what's the difference its just that the 'fighter' add-on seems more prestigious and honorable. just like what our garbage-man in singapore is termed Environmental Engineer overseas. it just means they take pride in their work.
